Batavia Defeats Lake Park in Boys Varsity Wrestling Home Dual

The Batavia vs. Lake Park boys varsity wrestling dual meet concluded with a decisive victory for the home team on Thursday, December 11th, 2025. Batavia High School’s Bulldogs secured a 43-29 win over the Lake Park High School Lancers in Batavia, Illinois. The Bulldogs’ performance was highlighted by an exceptional number of bonus-point victories, which proved to be the deciding factor in the contest.
Batavia amassed 34 of their 43 team points through bonus-point matches. This impressive total included five wins by pin, one technical fall, and one major decision. The team demonstrated significant strength across the middle weights, which effectively built an insurmountable lead. Lake Park fought hard, securing four victories by pin and one by forfeit, showcasing their power in the upper weight classes. However, the Bulldogs’ consistent pressure and ability to score maximum points prevented a Lancer comeback.





Batavia found near-perfect success from the 126 lbs to the 157 lbs weight classes. The Bulldogs won five consecutive contested matches in this span. These victories included a Major Decision by Kai Enos at 126 lbs and pins by Kyle Pasco (132 lbs) and Cole Hubbard (157 lbs). Elias Chaney also earned a Major Decision at 138 lbs, and Daniel Gonzalez won by Technical Fall at 150 lbs. This dominant run in the middle of the lineup fundamentally shifted the momentum of the meet.
Despite Lake Park’s difficulties in the middle weights, their upper-weight wrestlers performed strongly. The Lancers secured three of their four contested wins by pin in the heavier classes. Shane Blgler (165 lbs), Alexander Gavrylyuk (190 lbs), and Antonin Svoboda (215 lbs) all earned six team points for Lake Park with their pinfall victories.
Batavia maintained a consistent lead throughout the evening, starting with a forfeit win by Joey Calvillo (106 lbs). The team score progressed from 10-6 after the 126 lbs match to 31-9 following the 157 lbs victory. Josiah Johnson closed out the contest for Batavia with a pin at 285 lbs, bringing the final score to Batavia 43, Lake Park 29. The team’s focus on securing pins and technical falls paid dividends, ensuring the dual meet victory.
