Winfield, IL – Cooler temps and overcast skies set the tone for today’s Men’s Cat 2 race at the Winfield Criterium, part of the high-octane Chicago Grit series. Despite the mild weather, the racing was anything but—tight packs, sharp corners, and a blazing sprint finish defined the day.

Colin Fischer of Stellina Racing edged out teammate Sean McCarthy by a second, finishing the technical course in 59:59. The duo controlled the final laps with precision, making their 1-2 finish look easy. Spencer Collins of South Chicago Wheelmen came in third, matching the winning time but just inches short on the line.

The race looped through a tight neighborhood circuit—Winfield Road to Beecher Ave, down Park Street, Washington Ave, and back to Winfield Road—with spectators packing corners and straightaways. The community gathered at Creekside Park, where Summerfest festivities blended seamlessly with the fast-paced racing, giving fans plenty to cheer about.

Next stop for the Chicago Grit series: the Tighthead Mundelein Grand Prix in Mundelein, IL tomorrow. If today’s race was any indication, the competition is only heating up
