Geneva Wrestling Senior Night: Hard-Fought Battles Against St. Charles East
On January 14, Geneva High School hosted St. Charles East for a wrestling meet filled with excitement, grit, and moments of pride. The evening began with a heartfelt senior ceremony, honoring the Class of 2025 wrestlers for their dedication and contributions to the program. Seniors Ben Deasy, Dylan Kanzler, Dontre McClose, Joseph Pettit, Sam Sikorsky, and Andrew Wendt were celebrated in front of an enthusiastic crowd of family, friends, and teammates.
The competition on the mat showcased the determination of both teams, but St. Charles East emerged victorious, benefiting from key matches and several forfeits in their favor at weights 126, 150, 157, 175, 190, and 215.

- 113 lbs: Declan Sons of St. Charles East secured a technical fall victory over Geneva’s Dontre McClose, showcasing strategic dominance.
- 120 lbs: Geneva’s Sam Sikorsky brought the crowd to its feet with an impressive pin over Andrew Han from St. Charles East, adding a high-energy win for the home team.
- 132 lbs: Liam Aye of St. Charles East delivered a strong performance, defeating Geneva’s Ben Deasy.
- 144 lbs: Logan Tatar of St. Charles East claimed victory over Ali Shabbir from Geneva.
- 165 lbs: Anthony Gutierrez of St. Charles East pinned Geneva’s Eli O’Donnell.
- 285 lbs: Geneva’s Joseph Pettit earned a decisive pin over Matt Medina, showcasing his strength and skill in the heavyweight division.
