Batavia Dominates at DuKane Boys Indoor Conference Championships

The Batavia Bulldogs showcased their dominance at the 2025 DuKane Boys Indoor Conference Championships, claiming the title with a commanding 127.5 points. Lake Park followed with 90 points, while St. Charles East rounded out the top three with 75 points. Glenbard North and St. Charles North battled closely, both finishing with 74 points. Geneva (48), Wheaton North (47.5), and Wheaton Warrenville South (46) completed the competitive field.

Among the standout athletes of the day was Batavia’s Thomas Woodard, who clocked a blistering 50.20 in the 400-meter dash. This personal best performance places him #9 in the Illinois High School Indoor Rankings for 2025, solidifying his reputation as one of the state’s top sprinters.

Lake Park also had strong showings, highlighted by Shawn Hughes who ran a 23.46 in the 200-meter dash, achieving a personal record. Teammate Adrian Podosek clocked a season-best 24.37. In the long jump, PJ Anderson leaped 21 feet, 8.75 inches (21-08.75), now ranking #31 in Illinois for 2025.

Glenbard North’s Eduardo Gonzalez impressed with a swift 6.50 in the 55-meter dash, securing a personal best and rising to #9 in Illinois. Additionally, Jeremiah Williams recorded an 8.15 in the varsity 55-meter hurdles, a season-best that earned him the #26 spot in Illinois.

St. Charles East had several notable performances as well. Xander Salazar clocked a 6.73 in the 55-meter dash, achieving a personal record. In the 400-meter dash, Samuel Wollak delivered a standout race with a time of 50.52, now ranked #13 in Illinois. Grayson Ellensohn also made waves in the distance events, running an impressive 9:16.55 in the 3200-meter race, securing a US #78 and Illinois #7 ranking for 2025.

In the high jump competition, Ethan Tucker delivered an impressive leap of 6 feet, 2 inches (6-02.00), earning valuable points for his team and further establishing his prowess in field events.+

Batavia’s balanced approach, with strong showings across both track and field events, propelled them to the top of the standings. Lake Park maintained a steady presence throughout the meet, demonstrating depth in multiple disciplines. Meanwhile, St. Charles East’s well-rounded efforts across sprints, mid-distance, and distance events helped secure their third-place finish.

Coaches and spectators alike praised the resilience and determination displayed by all the athletes. With the outdoor season on the horizon, competitors will undoubtedly build upon these performances, striving for even greater achievements.
