GMedia Reporting | January 24, 2026
Wheaton, IL – While sub-zero temperatures gripped the Midwest this weekend, the action inside the Wheaton North gymnasium remained red-hot. St. Charles East dominated the DuKane Conference Wrestling Championships on Saturday. The Saints showcased their depth and skill by capturing seven individual titles out of 14 weight classes.
The Saint’s performance was highlighted by the continued excellence of Dom Munaretto at 120 pounds. Munaretto maintained his undefeated season, improving his record to 40-0 after a 18-3 technical fall over Batavia’s Kai Enos. His technical precision set the tone for a roster that refused to slow down despite the freezing weather outside.
Power in the upper weight classes secured the team’s commanding lead. Both Cooper Murray (215) and Matt Medina (285) earned quick pins in the first period of their respective championship bouts. These falls provided crucial team points and energized the St. Charles East bench.

The host school, Wheaton North, also saw significant success on their home mats. Julian Flores claimed the 175-pound title with a 13-6 decision over Asher Van Der Molen. His teammate Ryan Rosch followed with a dominant 21-6 technical fall at 190 pounds. These victories gave the Falcons’ fans plenty to cheer for during the intense tournament. Other conference schools also made their mark during the finals. Vannak Khiev of Glenbard North secured a 4-0 decision at 126 pounds, while Lake Park’s Nicholas Merola earned a tactical 8-3 win at 144 pounds. Additionally, Rocco Valvano of Wheaton Warrenville South opened the finals with a quick pin at 106 pounds.
The dominant showing by the Saints cements their status as the team to beat heading into the regional rounds. With eight conference champions and an undefeated leader in Munaretto, St. Charles East carries significant momentum into the postseason. These athletes now turn their focus to the state series where the stakes will only continue to rise.
