Batavia Football Powers Past Glenbard North in 49-21 Victory

Carol Stream, IL – The Batavia football team delivered an explosive offensive performance on Friday night, securing a decisive 49-21 victory on the road against Glenbard North. Powered by a relentless ground attack and sharp playmaking, the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to earn the win in Carol Stream.
Glenbard North struck first midway through the opening period. Running back Angelo Gatses capped off an impressive drive with a touchdown run at the 6:17 mark. Kicker Nate Durkowski added the extra point to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead. Batavia answered back quickly before the quarter ended. Quarterback Michael Vander Luitgaren broke loose for a touchdown run with 3:39 remaining. Kicker Christian Balok converted the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.
The Batavia football offense took complete control of the tempo during the second quarter. Running back Charlie Rosengren dived into the end zone for a touchdown midway through the frame, putting the Bulldogs ahead 14-7. Later in the period, Vander Luitgaren added his second rushing touchdown of the night on a swift drive. Balok remained perfect on extra-point attempts, extending Batavia’s advantage to 21-7 heading into halftime.
Wide receiver Darin Ashiru took a pass into the end zone early in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 28-7. Glenbard North fought back as Gatses scored his second touchdown run of the evening to cut the deficit to 28-14. However, the Batavia football squad responded instantly. Vander Luitgaren broke away for another long touchdown run to rebuild a three-touchdown cushion.
Batavia maintained its momentum after halftime. Wide receiver Darin Ashiru took a pass into the end zone early in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 28-7. Glenbard North fought back as Gatses scored his second touchdown run of the evening to cut the deficit to 28-14. However, the Batavia football squad responded instantly. Vander Luitgaren broke away for another long touchdown run to rebuild a three-touchdown cushion.
Late in the third quarter, Vander Luitgaren punched in his fourth total touchdown of the contest. Glenbard North answered with a late touchdown drive, but Batavia held a commanding 42-21 lead going into the final frame.
Rosengren closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter, rolling into the end zone for his second touchdown of the game. Balok finished 7-for-7 on extra points to lock in the 49-21 final score. Batavia displays a well-rounded roster that continues to build momentum as the regular season progresses.
Batavia returns home September 11th for its game against Lake Park while Glenbard North travels to St. Charles to compete against St Charles East.
